Jeff's Big Bash
Saturday was Jeff's bday... Paternal grandma, "nainai", asked to organise a BBQ party at Joo Chiat home... Coz Jeff's the eldest grandson and to the chinese, celebrating the 16th bday is a great deal as it means the kid has grown up... So despite Jeff's reluctance, the party was decided... Went to Joo Chiat at around 5plus... Helped prepared to wrap the sotong, pork, fish and ray into aluminium foils and put either chilli or black pepper flavorings on them...
I cut myself twice on my palm and finger while I teared the foil from the box... My... They were really sharp... I wonder if there would ever be many times when I wun be so accident prone... Soon it was already 7pm... Went out to start the bbq-ing... It was very dark outside as we din have many lamp out on the porch and Ah yi forgot to bring the lamps... Anyway, when ah yi and her family arrived they started taking down the tables and chairs Dad loaned and setting them up.. Within minutes, they were all done.. It was a sight as the children were all helping out too...
Mum brought them on a house tour as it was their 1st time there....Gradually the guest arrived and started eating and mingling... Dad had invited his customers and their families along to the party as a gathering.. Tink there were about 50 people.. But jeff din invite any of his friends... He was still reluctant about the party as we were on our way to Joo Chiat earlier...
I was rushing in and out of the house and the kitchen to get the utensils and food to the table outside... Thankfully, it wasn't too humid a night and everyone was quite enjoying... Then, Ah yi's brother-in-law arrived with the lights and we set them up... Suddenly, the garden and our party area was brightened.. We continued with food...
There wasn't games but the kids entertained themselves running along the corridors and watching the elder guys playing computer games and zooming around in the roller cars and swinging themselves on the swing or playing their own games while the adults chatted...
We cut the bday cake, which had a picture of a mermaid, and took photos with our grandmas... Then we distributed the cake... N mingled for a while agin before some guest started to go home... As more of them left, leaving those customers that drank, we started clearing the tables and the tables and chairs... Finally, the last guest left at 11plus close to 12am... Den dad drove us back home in the lorry.. Jeff had already opened his presents and on the way back, he counted his ang pows... Which was a total of $338!! N he had objected to the party at first... hmm... Slept at around 1plus 2am....
Sunday
N did not wake until 10plus the next day.... Went to calligraphy class alone on Sunday as both brothers had unfinished homework... There was a very disturbing pri 2 boy who constantly disturbed the class.... He often wanted to go to the toilet and did not take the writing seriously... That day, he even disturbed me!!
He was sitting on my right and after he finished, he had to wait til the teacher was free to inspect his work... So, he started playing with the brush's wrapper and kept edging towards me, and leaning towards my side...
While he was writing, he also brushed his brush against my arm... I pushed his ink bowl away a few times but it seems he din get the message that he was a disturbance as he edged towards me... Finally, I changed seats...
However, the air con was blowing directly on me in the new seat and I was shivering so much I cun write properly.... Finally I struggled to write the last few letters with a trembling hand... Frustrated that today's words turned out terribly... Haiz.... Finaly the lesson ended...
]Nothing much happened yesterday... But today, Li Ming came to look for me in the shop around lunch time after she took early leave... Was rushing to finish my work to have a talk with her... But made her wait for about 10minutes... Talked for around an hour before she went home and I went back to work... Hope she's calmer den and could process her thoughts and aims clearly and decide on what's her ultimate decision... Not really convenient to talk much as she wanna keep it private... =>
