Yesterday nothing much happened.. I sent in a e-mail to the St Forum about the revised system of Jcs, Polys, ITEs.. Most people seem to not think about the underlying consequences of such a change..
Advantage:
1)JCs do not have to go thru the hassle of dual admission (also termed as admission disaster)
2)Poly n ITE students do not have to wait so long to start school as the school term is brought forward
3)Poly students can get into local universities at teh same time as JC students instead of waiting a year
Disadvantage(Social problems aplenty):
1)Tens of thousands of students would be idling for nearly 3 months-there aren't so many part-time jobs for students to take up
2)Some might mix with bad friends n commit undesirable actions-smoking, theft, vandalising to name afew
3)Parents will be soon complaining about so many students roaming around on the streets, having nothing to do
So the best thing is let them study during these period of time.. Unless anyone has other constructive,low-cost, useful n interesting programmes for this students.. Now, it sounds like an argumentative essay.. Haha.. But it's actually quite a big headache if we really think about it rite?
My mum disagreed, saying we shun be so reliant on the govt. there can be courses organised for these tens of thousands of students? Sure, but the fees 4 these courses would definitely be at least twice the cost of 3months study in a JC..
So wat r we supportive of?
